Holly Lane (Destiny #4) by Toni Blake

The weather outside is frightful, but kisses by the fire are so delightful …

Sue Ann Simpkins is working hard to rebuild her life and find some holiday spirit. A weekend away from Destiny in a cabin on nearby Bear Lake seems like the perfect Christmas gift to herself—until her ex's best friend, Adam Becker, shows up at the door, claiming the cabin is his! And if that's not trouble enough, how had she never noticed how gorgeous he was?

Alone for the holidays and forced to play a reindeer at the local department store, Adam's been feeling rather Scrooge-ish himself. But finding the smart, sexy woman he's admired since elementary school waiting in the house he rented is helping to brighten his humbug mood. And when a sudden snowstorm strands them together in very close quarters, leading to one very hot night together, Adam soon realizes that what he really wants for Christmas is a second chance at love. Now all he has to do is convince Sue Ann…

Words cannot describe how much I loved this book. There is something about the Destiny series that keeps me wanting to go back to visit what feels like some really good old friends.

When I first "met" Sue Ann in One Reckless Summer, I thought she was likeable enough and she seemed like a very nice friend to have. It was really nice to get to know her (and Adam of course) so much better in Holly Lane. Her emotions regarding her divorce, her new found lust (and love) for Adam, her love for her daughter etc. made her seem so very real (I am tempted to type her name on facebook to see if maybe she really does exist and has a fb account...). I really understood her emotions and could not help but feel a whole lot of sympathy for her.

Then there's Adam...Adam, Adam, Adam (if I weren't happily married already, I might just be looking to see if maybe he really exists also). He's an amazing hero and imho he's the perfect man for Sue Ann. Not only does he make an amazing lover / partner, he's also be the best stepdad ever .

And it was so great to "see" Jenny and Mick again, Ms Blake has the amazing skill of having old friend make strong appearances in a new story, without it taking the focus of the maion h&h. I am looking forward to the next books in the Destiny series and I hope I will be able to meet with Sue Ann and Adam, Rachel and Mike, Jenny and Mick, Tessa and Lucky in the stories that are still to come.

Ms Blake, thank you so very much for brightening up my cold, wet and grey December days!
