Negli ultimi anni Colleen Hoover ha iniziato a sperimentare e a mischiare diversi generi letterari, diventandone in breve tempo maestra eccellente. Questo libro rappresenta qualcosa di completamente nuovo, mai visto nelle librerie italiane.
Verity è un mix tra un romance classico, un suspense, un thriller e un giallo. Insomma le ha quasi tutte!
Se deciderete di avventurarvi nella sua lettura, vi consiglio di farlo senza preconcetti perché brancolerete nel buio per tutta la durata della storia.
Sembra strano ma la protagonista del libro non è Lowen, la narratrice, o almeno non del tutto... ma Verity.
Verity (il cui nome è simbolico pensandoci a lettura conclusa) è la moglie di Jeremy, celebre scrittrice, madre affettuosa, donna e vittima di un terribile incidente che l'ha lasciata priva di tutto.

Ma non solo... Verity è così tanto e nasconde così tanto che faccio fatica a descriverla... in questa storia Verity è TUTTO.

Il libro alterna parti al presente e parti prese dall'autobiografia di Verity.
Ciò dà l'occasione di entrare nella sua testa, di comprenderla e di spaventarci.
Un minuto la odierete, un altro vi confonderà, un altro proverete pietà... insomma, non è un romanzo per i deboli di cuore e di emozioni.

Il mio rapporto con questa lettura è stato travagliato: ho letto il primo capitolo e mi sono fermata... non perché mi facesse paura, ma perché provavo la sensazione di dover aspettare il momento giusto. Così un giorno, dopo aver lasciato passare qualche mese, e sapendo di avere qualche giorno libero, ho continuato la storia e non mi sono fermata (se non per poche pause per riprendere la sanità mentale) fino alla fine.
Non vi innamorerete della storia perché sinceramente è impossibile, vi garantisco però che rimarrà indimenticabile.
Che cosa penserete una volta finita la lettura? Niente e tutto allo stesso tempo... cioè: Ma che c***o!
Vi ho incuriosite abbastanza?
Non abbiate paura dell'inglese perché quello della Hoover è molto semplice e adatto a chi ne ha anche solo una conoscenza base, per tutto il resto c'è il traduttore. Anche il kobo/kindle vi può aiutare perché ha il dizionario incorporato.
Di segreti da rivelare ce ne sono tanti... ora tocca a voi.
