We wove our way through the crowds. I glanced into the rows of bars and clubs teeming with people dressed in various degrees of costumes. Despite my apprehension of hanging out with someone I barely knew, the excitement seemed to be rubbing off on me. I found myself moving along to the music spilling out of one club when we were momentarily stopped.

“Duncan!” A girl with long blond hair yelled and proceeded to wrap her arms around Duncan’s neck. She was dressed as a pumpkin, if a pumpkin was just a skimpy piece of orange fabric. “Come dancing with us.” She was visibly drunk.

“Oh, hi.” He gave me an apologetic look.

I shrugged. It wasn’t like we were on a date.

“Why aren’t you dressed up? It’s Halloween. You’re supposed to be dressed up.”

He shoved a hand into his back pocket. “How do you know that I’m not dressed up?”

“Laurie!” The girl yelled. “It’s Duncan, the stripper who did Debbie’s party last week.”

Wait. What? Did he strip? Wow, that was pretty surprising. He wasn’t bad looking, but I hadn’t met a male stripper before.

Another girl ran over. This one was appropriately attired. She had an awesome lollipop costume on. She also gave Duncan a hug, so I decided to people watch while I waited. That’s when I saw him. The gorgeous guy from the bar. All six plus feet of his perfectness. This time he was wearing one of those sleeveless white t-shirts that showed off his muscular arms. But it wasn’t his muscles that jumped out the most. It was his beautiful set of black wings. Now that was a costume.

He glanced up just as he passed, and my chest tightened. He looked at me with curiosity for a second before continuing on. Maybe he vaguely remembered my face but didn’t know why. I wasn’t sure what would be worse, if he remembered the humiliating moment, or if he didn’t.

I suddenly felt embarrassed of my cat costume. Were the whiskers too much?

“Daisy?” Duncan called my name and snapped me out of my daze. “Ready?” The girls must have walked off while I was distracted because Duncan was alone watching me. I wondered how obvious my ogling was.

“Yeah, sure.”

Duncan towed me along until he turned into a dark and completely unappealing dive. This was his favorite place? I kept my mouth shut. I didn’t want to offend him. Maybe this was one of those hidden gems you always hear about. Just to be safe I texted Reyna the name of the place as inconspicuously as possible, Grounddiggers.

“Who are you texting?” Duncan asked as we walked through the entrance.

Evidently I wasn’t as inconspicuous as I thought. “Just a friend.” I’m not sure why I didn’t just tell him who it was. I just felt like it was safer not to.

He nodded at a bouncer, who like Duncan was dressed all in black. The bouncer grunted something unintelligible to Duncan. Duncan must have taken the grunt to mean enter because he pulled me further inside.

“Okay, plug them in.”

I run to the porch and plug in the lights, then run back into the front yard to see them.

February 4th, 2015 is the date I created this Blog. My baby blog....all grown up! I'm a very proud mama!!

So much has happened since I started this amazing journey. I've met incredible girls, started new partnership with them and suddenly they became The Cosmo Girls all around the world! Two of them are from the U.S., one is from South Africa and one from Netherlands.

It's a very fun group but also serious, Cosmo girls have a lives with babies and jobs, but nonetheless they are more than willing to help me increase the amount of English reviews you will find here.

I've achieved so many goals my eyes glisten just at the thought! I've had the huge honor to interview the author I love the most, Kristen Ashley!! She, and so many English writers, like the ones who donate these giveaway's books, are the reason I opened this blog. I wanted to share with my fellow Italian readers what a treasure they should not miss out on!  

It's not so common for Italian readers, reading in English. It's stressful, looking for every word while maintaining focus on the plot. My idea didn't convince most at first, but things changed and now we are-- a force of nature!!

Ciao a tutti!

Il 4 Febbraio 2015 il Blog Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls compie 1 anno.

Non potrei essere più soddisfatta di così per il risultato raggiunto. Tutto è iniziato dal nulla, se non per una mia esigenza di sfogarmi, sognare ad occhi aperti, immergendomi nei libri che mi hanno aiutato, e continuano a farlo, ad evadere da una realtà non sempre felice. 

Con qualche piccola informazione e tanto entusiasmo, ho intrapreso quest'avventura. Fortunatamente non sono sempre stata sola in questo cammino, molte ragazze si sono unite a me e hanno contribuito in modo strabiliante al successo di questo blog. 

Molte altre ragazze, sopratutto conosciute su Facebook, sono state così gentili ed altruiste da darmi consigli e condividere con me le loro conoscenze informatiche, non ce l'avrei mai fatta senza il loro supporto e non smetterò mai di ringraziarle.

Ci sono state anche delle delusioni e qualche scivolone ma si impara e continuerò a farlo ogni giorno. Non passa giorno in cui io non mi arricchisca dell'affetto delle "mie" ragazze e dalla disponibilità delle autrici che ci hanno dato fiducia contando su di noi per recensire i loro libri.

La mia idea di un blog di libri in inglese per le ragazze italiane che leggono in inglese, sembrava troppo astratta per funzionare. Invece ha avuto successo, soprattutto grazie al fatto che le Case Editrici italiane hanno recentemente aguzzato la vista e hanno saputo cogliere il talento di incredibili autrici, pubblicandole nel nostro paese.

Ci si può innamorare di qualcuno senza averlo mai visto?
Accusata di plagio, l’autrice di bestseller Sofia Leone cade in una profonda crisi personale e professionale e decide di allontanarsi per un po’ dalla scena. Una sera, però, scopre un concorso letterario in rete e rimane particolarmente colpita dal racconto Parlami di te di Christophe Martin.
Come in un gioco senza regole e confini i due iniziano una relazione a distanza “virtuale e letteraria” , che notte dopo notte si trasforma in qualcosa di molto più reale e passionale.
Christophe è perfetto, la capisce in tutto, ma come reagirebbe se sapesse che dietro quel nome di fantasia, Becca, si nasconde una delle più famose scrittrici del momento? La situazione precipita la sera di Natale quando Sofia riceve la foto di Christophe.Ma in amore l’unica regola valida è che non esistono regole. Tutto è possibile, basta solo crederci.

Dopo aver vissuto in Inghilterra, Sarah, una potente strega di trecento anni che all’apparenza sembra una normale diciassettenne, torna a Salem decisa a ricominciare una nuova vita senza la magia. Inaspettatamente, giunge sua sorella minore: Susan, strega intrigante e perversa che ha scelto di passare al lato oscuro per la sete di potere, determinata a sconvolgere l’esistenza di Sarah e degli ignari studenti del liceo di Salem. 
La vita scolastica si rivela fin da subito molto più dura del previsto. L’unico apparentemente interessato a conoscerla è un ragazzo dai grandi occhi grigio azzurro: Scott. Il solo a essere in grado di risvegliare in lei sentimenti che credeva oramai assopiti. Ma Salem ben presto comincerà a essere terrorizzata da numerosi delitti inspiegabili, il cui unico filo conduttore sarà un marchio a forma di ‘S’ posto sulle vittime. Le ragazze della Congrega delle Streghe sono tipiche adolescenti che soffrono per amore e studiano per i compiti in classe; la particolarità che i Cacciatori siano solo ragazzi, sottolinea in Stryx l’eterna lotta tra sessi che dura tutt’oggi e fa di Salem un campo di battaglia, velato da atmosfere crepuscolari e notturne. 
Ispirato al romanzo “La lettera scarlatta” di Nathaniel Hawthorne e al dramma teatrale “Il Crogiuolo” di Arthur Miller, con numerosi omaggi a Harry Potter, Stryx è impregnato di metafore sull’emancipazione della donna. 
Sarah e Susan Sawyer, le due streghe protagoniste, rappresentano due criteri opposti con cui il gentil sesso usa il “potere”. Il messaggio finale del libro è che tutte le donne lo posseggono, ma la differenza consiste appunto nel modo in cui si decide di usarlo.
